The Whole Foods Co-op strives to meet the needs of as many owners as possible. We offer choices to our shoppers by balancing various consumer needs while honoring our cooperative and owner values. For example: organic cereal vs. non-organic cereal on sale, or bulk soup mix vs the convenience of canned soup. Our product mix ultimately reflects our cooperative values as well as owner and shopper demand.

While the Whole Foods Co-op actively opposed GMO foods and prefers to not carry any items using genetic engineering/modification, it is impossible to promise our store is free of such items. GMO foods require no labeling in the US and most manufacturers will not release sourcing information for their ingredients. We continue to lobby for labeling requirements and work to educate shoppers about GMOs and similar issues so that they may choose what is right for their diets.
